                                                        HALT THIS FARCE NOW

Well it’s blog time again. Apologies to my legion of readers for the delay but with so much inactivity at our beloved City - despite the media speculation - there has been little positive except our Uefa Cup qualification to write about.

On that subject it is of course pleasing to see recognition of our Fair Play achievements and we will all be looking forward to the forthcoming draw on June 27th. The teams we can be drawn against have been well documented elsewhere and the fact that we are one of the seeded clubs due to our coefficient should in theory give us an easier draw in the 2 qualifying rounds. The first two ties are due to be played on July 17th and 31st respectively, with our home tie possibly being played away due to a certain Bon Jovi concert taking place at CoMs!

With Europe in mind, the recently held Eurovision Song contest tool place in Belgrade. Though I didn’t watch it, reports suggest it has become farcical and nothing more than a political bun fight. Farcical is the only description to describe what is or should that be isn’t happening at City! Since the first headlines hit the back pages (April 17th) regards Sven’s future, speculation has been rife as to whether Thaksin will sack the manager. This in turn has seen a repeat of last years rumours about who was going to replace the sacked Pearce. Equally the same doubts about players futures and an inability to recruit new players whilst all the uncertainty continues is all to reminiscent of twelve months ago.

If I had received a pound for every person who has asked me ‘What’s going on at City?’ I’d be on a plane to Thailand to throttle some sense into the chairman and to remind him that it is foolish, very foolish to try and fix something that isn’t broken!!

Remember this Dr T, if you don’t want to become Dr Who? Get down off your ego trip, stop fretting about a few empty seats and bringing in way past it superstars and let Sven get on with the job in hand. You asked for a top ten finish this season past and Uefa Cup next year……..and you’ve got both!!! Stage one completed successfully. Stage two…twelve months premature…..so what’s your problem?

What was achieved last year was a vast improvement on the previous season. We may have lost our way a little after our better than expected start but we still progressed beyond all our aspirations. The profile of the club was expanded by what happened on the pitch just as it has been off the pitch following the recent Uefa Cup Final and Ricky Hatton fight. That progress needs to be maintained and even improved upon but any strides we have made will be undone if this farce isn’t sorted out and quickly!!
